Ingredients of Prawn Pie

  • 500g raw prawns, peeled and deveined
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 carrot, chopped
  • 1 celery stalk, chopped
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup chicken or vegetable broth
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 sheet puff pastry

How to Make Sweet Potato Pie

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. Heat the butter and olive oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add the onion, garlic, carrot, and celery, and sauté until the vegetables are tender.
  3. Add the prawns to the pan and sauté for a few minutes until they turn pink.
  4. Add the flour to the pan and stir until the vegetables and prawns are coated.
  5. Pour in the milk, cream, and broth and stir until the sauce thickens. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Pour the prawn mixture into a pie dish.
  7. Roll out the puff pastry and lay it over the top of the pie dish. Trim the edges and press them down onto the dish to seal.
  8. Cut a few small slits in the top of the pastry to allow steam to escape.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed up.
  10. Serve the prawn pie hot, garnished with chopped parsley if desired.
