Ingredients of Patatas Bravas
- 4 large potatoes, peeled and cut into bite-size cubes
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon chilli powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley or cilantro for garnish
How to Make Patatas Bravas
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the potatoes and fry until crispy and golden brown, about 10-15 minutes. Remove from the skillet and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and garlic and cook until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, smoked paprika, chilli powder, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Transfer the tomato sauce to a blender or food processor and puree until smooth.
- Serve the crispy potatoes with the spicy tomato sauce on top, and garnish with fresh parsley or cilantro.
