Ingredients of Paneer Paratha

For the dough:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1/2 cup water

For the filling:

  • 2 cups chopped spinach
  • 1 cup crumbled paneer
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp minced ginger
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil

How to Make Palak Paneer Lifafa

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, and oil. Mix well.
  2. Gradually add water and knead the dough until it becomes smooth and elastic. Cover it and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
  3. In a pan, heat oil over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them crackle.
  4. Add minced ginger and garlic. Saute for a minute.
  5. Add chopped spinach and salt. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the spinach wilts.
  6. Add crumbled paneer, garam masala, and red chili powder. Mix well and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  7. Remove the filling from the heat and let it cool.
  8. Divide the dough into equal-sized balls. Take one ball and flatten it with your palms. Dust it with flour and roll it out into a small circle.
  9. Place a spoonful of the paneer and spinach filling onto the center of the rolled-out dough circle.
  10. Bring the edges of the circle together and pinch them to seal the filling inside. Shape it into a pouch by gathering the edges and twisting them together.
  11. Repeat the same process with the remaining dough balls and filling.
  12. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  13. Place the lifafas onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  14. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the lifafas turn golden brown.
  15. Remove from the oven and serve hot with mint chutney or any sauce of your choice.
