  • 1 lb. pasta (penne or fusilli)
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp. ginger, grated
  • 1 tsp. cumin powder
  • 1 tsp. coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp. paprika
  • 1/2 tsp. garam masala
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • Salt, to taste
  • 2 tbsp. chopped fresh coriander leaves

How to Make Desi-Style Butter Masala Pasta

  1. Cook the pasta according to the package instructions until it’s al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until it turns golden brown.
  3. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger and cook for another minute.
  4. Add the cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, paprika, and garam masala. Cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  5. Add the tomato puree and salt to taste. Mix well and cook for 5 minutes.
  6. Add the heavy cream and mix well. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  7. Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and mix well until the pasta is coated with the sauce.
  8. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
