  • 1 pound penne pasta
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 can (14 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Freshly grated Parmesan cheese

How to Make Creamy Rosso Penne

  1. Cook the penne pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  3. Add the can of diced tomatoes to the pan and bring to a simmer. Cook for 5-10 minutes until the tomatoes have broken down and the sauce has thickened.
  4. Stir in the heavy cream, dried basil, and dried oregano. Cook for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened and is heated through.
