Ingredients of Chinese Idli

  • 8-10 idlis
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onions
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped bell peppers (capsicum)
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped carrots
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons chilli sauce
  • 2 tablespoons tomato ketchup
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for cooking
  • Spring onions for garnishing

How to Make Chinese Idli

  1. Cut the idlis into bite-sized chunks and set aside.
  2. Heat some oil in a pan and add the finely chopped onions. Sauté until they turn translucent.
  3. Add the finely chopped bell peppers and carrots and sauté for a few minutes until the vegetables are cooked but still crunchy.
  4. Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute.
  5. Add the soy sauce, chilli sauce, tomato ketchup and salt to the pan and mix well.
  6. Add the idli chunks to the pan and toss until they’re coated in the sauce and heated through.
  7. Garnish with chopped spring onions and serve hot.
