Chicken Manchurian is a popular Indo-Chinese dish that is made with boneless chicken pieces that are marinated in a mixture of spices, corn flour, and egg, then deep-fried until crispy. The crispy chicken is then tossed in a tangy and spicy sauce made with soy sauce, tomato ketchup, vinegar, and other seasonings.

Ingredients of Chicken Manchurian

  • 500 grams of boneless chicken
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp corn flour
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for deep-frying

For the sauce:

  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp garlic, chopped
  • 1 tbsp ginger, chopped
  • 2 green chillies, chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 capsicum, chopped
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 1 tbsp red chilli sauce
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • 1 tbsp corn flour dissolved in 1/4 cup water
  • Salt to taste

How to Make Chicken Manchurian

  1. Cut the chicken into small bite-sized pieces and marinate them with egg, corn flour, all-purpose flour, ginger-garlic paste, salt, and pepper. Mix well and keep aside for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a pan for deep-frying. Once the oil is hot, add the marinated chicken pieces and fry until golden brown and crispy. Drain and keep aside.
  3. In a separate pan, heat 2 tbsp oil and add chopped garlic, ginger, and green chillies. Saute for a few seconds.
  4. Add chopped onions and capsicum and saute until they turn translucent.
  5. Add soy sauce, tomato ketchup, red chilli sauce, vinegar, and salt. Mix well and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  6. Add the corn flour-water mixture and stir continuously until the sauce thickens.
  7. Add the fried chicken pieces to the sauce and toss until the chicken is coated well with the sauce.
  8. Garnish with chopped spring onions and serve hot with fried rice or noodles.
