  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup of beer
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1 cup of grated cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup of milk
  • 1 tablespoon of butter

How to Make Batter Fried Fish With Cheese Sauce

  1. In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and beer until well combined.
  3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and whisk until the batter is smooth.
  4. Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a large, heavy-bottomed pot over medium-high heat until it reaches 375°F (190°C).
