Ingredients of Patatas Bravas

  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and cut into bite-size cubes
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon chilli powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley or cilantro for garnish

How to Make Patatas Bravas

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the potatoes and fry until crispy and golden brown, about 10-15 minutes. Remove from the skillet and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  2. In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and garlic and cook until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, smoked paprika, chilli powder, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. Transfer the tomato sauce to a blender or food processor and puree until smooth.
  5. Serve the crispy potatoes with the spicy tomato sauce on top, and garnish with fresh parsley or cilantro.

Enjoy your homemade Patatas Bravas!
