Ingredients of Apple Sausage Plait

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry dough
  • 4-5 sausages, sliced
  • 2 medium-sized apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 egg, beaten

How to Make Apple Sausage Plait

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced sausages and cook for 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned. Remove the sausages from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the chopped onions and cook for 2-3 minutes, until softened. Add the sliced apples, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper, and cook for another 3-4 minutes, until the apples are tender. Remove from the heat and let cool for a few minutes.
  4. On a floured surface, roll out the puff pastry dough to a rectangular shape. Place the cooled sausage and apple mixture down the center of the pastry, leaving about 1 inch of space on each side.
  5. Cut slits into the pastry on either side of the filling, about 1 inch apart. Fold the strips of pastry over the filling, alternating sides to create a braided effect.
  6. Brush the beaten egg over the top of the pastry.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the pastry is golden brown and crisp.
  8. Let the plait cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Enjoy your delicious Apple Sausage Plait!
